Carl Clark

I am a native of New Jersey and became a full-time resident of Florida in 1998. My university degree is in architecture from Drexel University. My original career as an architect spanned thirty-five years culminating as president of a large architectural-engineering firm in Philadelphia.

My paintings are reflections of impressions of places I’ve experienced. The original concepts are reduced to the essential elements which convey a sense of place and time. The images are represented in strong composition and abstractions of color selected to express the feelings evoked from those places. My style varies from abstract to realism and covers a wide range of subject matter. The influence of my architectural background is always present. The acrylic medium allows for more fanciful interpretations of subject matter. One of the great joys of painting is to have my work evoke some emotion – a memory of a time, place or celebration of color.

My work has been exhibited in a number of galleries In Florida including ARTgalleryflorida, Florida West Arts Gallery, Boca Raton Museum of Art and the von Liebig Art Center.
